The whimsical design on our correspondence cards is taken from a hair ornament (ca. 1904) crafted by Louis Comfort Tiffany (American, 1848-1933) now in the Museum's collection. The original is made of platinum, enamel, and gemstone, and consists of two dragonflies resting on two dandelion seed balls.

A master of many media, Louis Comfort Tiffany (American, 1848-1933) was one of America's most noted decorative artists at the turn of the century. Known for his stained-glass windows and lighting fixtures, Tiffany's studios also made luminous glass vases and bowls, pottery, furniture, textiles, jewellery, and works in bronze, wood, and enamel.
