The inscription on the base which supports the original ram's head indicates that it was a votive offering. It portrays an anthropomorphic deity-part animal and part human. Its human form is suggested by the striated headdress visible under the curved horns, and by the necklace worn around the neck. The original, on which our adaptation is based, was made in Egypt, Dynasty 19, around the Thirteenth Century B.C. The ram was the animal associated with the Egyptian god Amun.
