Louis Comfort Tiffany (American, 1848-1933) is known for creating one of a kind art objects-handblown vases, special order mosaics and windows, and finely crafted jewellery-consistent with his mission to bring beauty into the home. Typically, these items were sold to an elite clientele, however, Tiffany Studios also created more modest objects, such as metalwork desk sets and boxes that were made in multiples. Many of the designs for these items were inspired by nature and incorporated Tiffany's signature Favrile glass. If opalescent blue Favrile panes were placed behind etched and pierced metalwork design, it would give an effect of a pine bough window.
