One of the most innovative and influential figures in modern architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright (American, 1867-1959) favoured simplicity and good craftsmanship and design over opulence. Exhibiting bold originality both in structure and aesthetics, his pioneering work helped to bolster the ideals of the Arts and Crafts movement. The design on this card case is adapted from a 1908 stained-glass window made by Wright for the kindergarten or playhouse in the Avery Coonley House (completed 1912) in Riverside, Illinois.
